Jenny Lavarda Italian Lead and Speed Champion with Ferrino and DMM

(31.10.2007)

29/10/2007, 23rd Italian National Championships in Valdagno (Vicenza), the climber from the Ferrino Technical Team wins the Lead and Speed titles for the sixth year running.

These 23rd Italian National Championships for Lead and Speed specialities, held on Saturday 29 October in Valdagno were really important to Jenny Lavarda.  First and foremost because she was competing in home territory, in front of a home public, but also because Jenny, like the true champion she is, always aims high and gives her all.

Mission accomplished then.  This Ferrino Technical Team athlete managed to repeat her historic victories by winning the Italian title in both specialities for the 6th year running.  Her supremacy has now brought her to achieve 9 national Lead titles and to top the Championships' roll of honour.

In Valdagno, 23-year-old Jenny from Vicenza won her latest in a long line of national Lead titles over a perfect route that led her to top out on both competition routes, and she was the only one to do so.  A clean climb that allowed her to pass the excellent Angelika Rainer from Bolzano, who was in the running for the final victory right to the last.  In the speed speciality, Jenny passed Claudia Battaglia and Eugenia Pistarà in that order, once again showing off her versatility when it comes to all climbing specialities.

These two victories complete a truly magnificent season where, as well as the Ice Boulder and Lead titles, to which she added the Ice Climbing World Cup, Jenny also won a great Combined world title at the sport climbing world championships in Avilés.  A host of successes to reward the seriousness, dedication and enthusiasm of this athlete, who Ferrino and DMM are proud to have on their Team.
