Decalogue
Here are the ten golden rules to follow in order to travel according to the principles of the resposnible tourist: everywhere, at any latitude, in any season.
1. Study up on the history, the customs, and the current political situation of your destination.
2. Be open-minded and willing to adapt.
3. Don't behave in a way that may be offensive to your host country or its people.
4. Ask permission before taking photos or filming.
5. Avoid using disposable product, dispose of trash properly, and leave only your footprints behind.
6. Don't waste water or energy.
7. Don't buy products made with endangered species of animals or plants.
8. When possible, use bicycles or collective transport in order to contribute to environmental protection.
9. Help the local economy by using local products.
10. Try to understand local customs, learn a few words of the native language, and don't visit only the tourist attractions.
