Responsible Tourism

"It is an ethical and conscientious way of traveling - affirms the Italian Association of Responsible Tourism - by which you interact with your destination, the people, and nature with respect and an open mind."
In Italy, as in other countries, a Map of Responsible Tourism is available that acknowledges similar documents pertaining to this sector from all over the world, beginning with the Map of Lanzarote , signed in 1995 during the World Conference on Sustainable Tourism. The main premise: "a concept of traveling that chooses not to endorse destruction and exploitation, but rather becomes a bearer of universal principles: fairness, sustainability, and tolerance."
Today these principles travel throughout the world on the legs, in the heads, and in the hearts of those who have chosen this lifestyle. Especially among young people.

The responsible way of travelling

2002: the United Nations declares the "Year of Ecotourism"
2008: the UN declares 2008 the "International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Peace and the Eradication of Poverty".

The evolution of Responsible Tourism lies between these two dates. The beginning of this century has been marked, in fact, by the ongoing development of the relationship between tourism, ecosustainability, and respect for the environment and native populations.

A vacation concept that identifies a lifestyle that goes beyond simple travel, that has conquered an increasing number of people over recent years. Especially among young people who are ready to welcome - also from a tourism point of view - the positive aspects of globalization: in terms of dialogue, exchange, civilized growth, and mutual development. Data from the International Centre for Responsible Tourism e indicate that Responsible Tourism is the most quickly growing form of travel among young people between 25 and 35. Why do young people choose this form of tourism? "To live a vacation in contact with nature and different cultures". This is the most frequent answer according to a survey conducted by responsibletravel.com, the international network of more than 200 operators in this sector and winner of the 2005 World Travel Awards.
