T.RES Worldwide initiatives
The project, organized by the Tilicho NGO non-profit organization, works towards its objective of improving the living conditions of the local population.
Over the past few years, the NGO/non-profit organization of Tilicho has
been implementing a program designed to help the populations of the
mountainous regions of Nepal along the borderline with Tibet. In Nepal,
at least 38,000 children die every year after contracting water-borne
diseases. And yet this nation is a natural reservoir of water that,
however, many inhabitants are still not able to access. In other cases,
the water resources are polluted. The medical-humanitarian aid project
is above all concentrated on infants, who have an incredibly high
mortality rate between the ages of 0-5 (118 every 1000 births). This
initiative also involves the female population, who during their
child-bearing years have the highest mortality index of all of Asia
(539 deaths during childbirth for every 100,000) – and the handicapped
who, even in those zones, have no specialized centre for orthopedic
pathologies. The camp hospital of the Tilicho Medical Research Expedition project, organized in Ferrino High-Lab geodesic tents,
reaches even the most isolated villages. The project also aims to
develop eco-compatible and supportive tourism, encourage agriculture,
protect biodiversity and water resources, and embark on any other
activity that may help the native populations while respecting their
traditions and safeguarding the environment.
