Career

Since she took her first steps, Jenny has always cultivated her passion for the mountains. When she was 4 she hiked with her parents under the Rutor Glacier in the Aosta Valley. At 6 she was struggling with her first climbing irons, and at 9 she tackled the glacier of the Marmolada. Today, in spite of her tender age, Jenny is at the top of international classifications, with many important achievements to her name: In 2004 she became the first woman in Italy and among the handful of women in the world to have climbed an 8b+ by climbing up the cliff, Jurassic climb 8b+ at Erto. She was also Italian Champion for difficulty and speed for 7 times in 8 editions of this category in which she competed 7 times. In the Jenny's future she will be seeking new victories, especially in Ice Climbing; a discipline in which she has already made an encouraging appearance in the World Cup.
On September 8, 2006, Jenny became the first Italian woman - and one of the few in the world - to have resolved a route 8c/8c+ to the Terra Promessa at Arco (Trento). This will be known as the "Claudio Caffè" route.

Climbing with my parents in the mountains: beautiful and unforgettable experiences.
What do the following mean to you:
Adventure?
Anything that exites me.
Risk?
I am a very cautious person and I always evaluate any situation… risk frightens me even if sometimes we have to risk something, even in everyday living.

If you hadn’t become Jenny Lavarda, what would you have done?
I would definitely have raced motorcycles.. .especially motocross! I adore it and have always wanted one since I was little. If not, I would have continued studying foreign languages or law.
