Dozens of skiers die practising these sports every year and in eighty percent of cases, they would have had a chance of surviving if they had used suitable equipment.
That is why, in conjunction with the Italian National Alpine Rescue School and using Snowpulse technology, Ferrino has developed the Cyber Safe, an air bag that increases safety for mountain enthusiasts without forcing them to compromise on backpack weight or space.
Before going out on an excursion, the backpack needs to be adjusted correctly: tighten the waist belt and chest strap and then put on the thigh straps.
To prepare the system, simply take the handle out of its protective pocket.
The airbag will inflate in 3 seconds and its “Head on Top” technology will keep the head in an upright position.
The airbag’s bright colour means it can easily be seen in the snow and therefore it can reduce rescue time.
Cyber safe is simple to re-use and it can be refilled easily.
As well as being the lightest airbag on the market, weighing a mere 1.3 kilos, it is also the most compact and takes up very little room inside the backpack.
A great deal of attention has gone into the details: elasticated neoprene waist belt with safety buckle, pressure gauge and a release handle that can be grabbed with any kind of glove.
Cyber safe has been successfully tested on different types of snow using 90-kilo dummies and it has passed all of the tests required to obtain the CE mark.
