Let’s welcome the Italian mountaineer and Paralympic athlete Andrea Lanfri into the Ferrino team. The Tuscan athlete is now training to get back on the saddle to face his new project "From 0 to 0 - special edition, non-stop cycling and running on World Meningitis Day".

From Marina di Pisa, on the Tyrrhenian Sea, to Monte Serra and back, non-stop, alternating between running and cycling. This is the new challenge that awaits Andrea Lanfri, new entry in the Ferrino team, on Saturday  April 24th, on World Meningitis Day. An important date for Andrea who in 2015 lost both legs and seven fingers of his hands precisely due to the dramatic consequences of meningitis. Many people would have given up in such a situation, but not Andrea who, hungry for life, decides to get back into the game. First by running, where he excels at an international level, then by going back climbing in the mountains and now combining cycling, running and the desire to enjoy every moment.

“Every year, on April 24th, I create some new projects” he explains. “I try to fight meningitis in my own way”.

“Andrea's enthusiasm, his engaging smile and determination, his exceptional athletic skills are a stimulus  for us to look at the difficulties of every day life with different eyes” says CEO Anna Ferrino. “We are happy to welcome him into the Ferrino family and to be able to support him with our products during his running, cycling or high mountain challenges”.

From 0 to 0 Monte Serra

The appointment is on April 24th on the beach of Marina di Pisa. At 9am Andrea will start cycling to cover the 37 kilometers that will lead him to Monte Serra, the goal is to reach the antennas on top. "From there I will change prostheses, I will put on the running blades, and I will run up towards Marina di Pisa for about 35 kilometers".

Approximately 6 hours are estimated to complete the round trip, a time in which it will be possible to follow the athlete in every step thanks to a live broadcast on Andrea's social channels.

"From 0 to 0 is a project that wants to combine all my passions into one great experience" explains Lanfri. This is a challenge never undertaken by a Paralympic athlete. In 2020 he faced a first experience on Monte Pisanino, starting from Lerici; the second edition saw him conquering the summit of Etna, starting from Aci Trezza and arriving in Catania. Total: 37 kilometers by bike, 20 kilometers crossing the volcanic massif, 37 kilometers of running upon coming back and more than 3000 meters of altitude, all non-stop.
