Alex Txikon
This tradition goes on also in 2020 and we are proud to welcome Alex Txikon to our team of brand ambassadors, with whom we are collaborating in the ongoing expedition "AX Road To Himalayas 19-20", providing backpacks, tents and gears for support the Basque mountaineer and his team in the extreme conditions of the expedition to Antarctica and Everest. Alex, now 38 years old, has been a member of more than 30 expeditions during his career, reaching the top of 11 of the 14 Eight-thousanders in the world, and he specialized himself in high altitude expeditions during the hard Himalayan winter in the last decade. He also holds a great record: he's the only mountaineer who leads winter expeditions every year since 2011. After the first successful climb of the Nanga Parbat in 2016 together with Ali Sapdara and Simone Moro, he attempted to climb the Everest in winter in 2017 and 2018 and the K2 in 2019. Last December, Alex left for a 3 three weeks of sailing, skiing and mountaineering adventure in the Antarctic peninsula and has now returned to the Himalayas in the middle of the winter.

With Krzystof Wielicki since 1990 to the next attempt on the winter K2
For Ferrino this is not a debut in the world of winter Himalayan mountaineering, our gears has been used regularly by the legendary Polish expeditions and in 2017 we supported the Polish winter expedition to K2 led by Krzystof Wielicki. The Polish mountaineer, in addition to being one of the first to conquer all the 14 Eight-thousanders, was also the first to climb Everest, Kangchenjunga and Lhotse in winter. In 2019 he was awarded the Piolet d'Or at the Ladek Mountain Festival. The coveted honor of the world of mountaineering celebrates all the challenges, among solitary climbs, first ascents and numerous adventures lived together with Polish compatriots, that in the 80s made the history of high altitude mountaineering.
Our collaboration with Wielicki began a long time ago, in the distant winter of 1990/91 during his attempt to climb Makalu. We then followed him in the winter of 2017/18 when he was leading the Polish expedition which attempted the first winter of K2, unfortunately without success. The team was equipped with tents, sleeping bags and backpacks from the Ferrino High Lab collection.
The collaboration is renovated, the Polish national expedition will try again in the winter 2020/2021 and Krzysztof and his team will keep on using high-altitude tents from the Ferrino High Lab collection.
