Category: Running
Date of birth: 18 July 1981
Nickname: Sara
Country: Italy

Her true love is her homeland, with its valleys, mountains and glaciers, even if her work sees her travelling between Valle d’Aosta and France. Sara, mother of three, is a clinical psychologist who is very involved in a range of associations. She is Vice President of the Pourparler association, which promotes cultural projects and products with an interdisciplinary vocation, and member of DIRE – Donne Italiane Rete Estera [Foreign Network of Italian Women], an association that capitalises on the role of Italian women professionals in France. Sara is a point of reference both within the Italian community and in the French social network.

She was born in Valle d’Aosta and has always been deeply passionate about the mountains. Especially, she tells us, Mont Blanc. “I need to see it every so often. It’s very important to me, for a whole lot of personal and family reasons”. One of her dreams is to set off along the normal ascent route to the summit. In the meantime, she is training, and dedicating some of her free time to sport. One of her passions is mountain running, which she considers a democratic discipline with little impact on the environment. “You can make the most of the area, getting to know all of its beauty and its fragility”.

Her motto is “Cultivate wonder and amazement”, and this is the philosophy she brings to training, races, and differences in altitude. Her first race experience was the 30 km Gran Trail Courmayeur and she is currently training for the TOR30 - Passage au Malatrà. “For me, it’s a way to challenge myself, my limits. Finishing my first race gave me a lot of confidence in myself”. Rather than aiming for the podium, Silvia is looking to enjoy the experience, to stimulate her passion for the sport. “I’d like to point out that I’m not an athlete. The race is just to encourage me to train, to get me on a course of physical and mental preparation. It gives me a goal to strive for”.
