The Ferrino Women Team is warming up, as it returns to the Tor des Géants®

All set for the eleventh edition of the Tor des Géants®. With the backing of Ferrino, the most difficult endurance trail in the world is ready to welcome the most determined ultra-trailers from 10th to 19th September 2021.

They’re all set for the most difficult endurance trail in the world, which returns with TOR30 - Passage au Malatrà, TOR130 - Tot Dret, TOR450 - Tor des Glaciers and TOR330 - Tor des Géants®. On the starting line, ready for the challenge in elevation gains offered by the finest trails in the Aosta Valley, we, at Ferrino, are there, too. “We’re excited about this long-standing partnership with the Tor des Géants®” comments Anna Ferrino, CEO. “We’re looking forward to going back to the Tor trails to relive the emotions that only an event of this scope can give”. This eleventh edition also means a return to sporting events after a year of lockdown, and for us at Ferrino we’ve chosen to mark it with three TorX branded rucksack models, available in the Tor official merchandising area at Courmayeur. X-Rush Vest 5 l, Dry Run 12 and X-Track 20 – three of the best running models designed for medium and long distances.

An all-woman team on the TORX trail
The Ferrino Women Team’s tradition continues in this eleventh edition, reconfigured with a new group of determined, enthusiastic athletes. Ordinary women who, apart from managing their daily commitments, choose to dedicate their free time to the training necessary to be able to take part in iconic races such as the Tor des Géants®. The TOR330 - Tor des Géants®, the main TORX race, and TOR30 - Passage au Malatrà are the competitions chosen by our team of women athletes for this 2021 edition. It’s a mixed team of six women ready to don a racing bib and get out onto the most beautiful trails in the Aosta Valley. The first to enter the field are the participants in the TOR330 - Tor des Géants®: let’s meet them.

Alena Shevchuk:
Russian, born 1971, Alena is a purposeful woman and mum, in her life as in competitions. A specialist in long distances, in 2019 she achieved fifth place in the TOR130 - Tot Dret. She has now decided to raise the bar and tackle the main race in the event. Impossible to list all the races she has excelled in, but many achievements stand out on the long list, such as those of the Elbrus World Race 2017, the 100 Miles of Istria 2018 or the Elton Ultra 2019.

Giulia Zanovello:
Italian, born 1990, Giulia discovered mountain running when she arrived in the Aosta Valley, although her real passion is for ski mountaineering. She trains in the early hours of the morning and then devotes herself to hotel work. Helping her to discover long distance trails were her partner, Roberto Perolini, and TOR veteran Franco Collé, who registered her for her first race. She dreams of doing the UTMB, but for now she only wants to achieve a good time in the Tor des Géants® which she has already done twice.

Maria Elisabetta Lastri:
a civil engineer from Italy, born 1988, she ran the TOR 2019 with the Ferrino Women Team, having been ranked second in the Tot Dret the previous year. A lover of outdoor sports, she’s found the right combination of work and racing over long distances.

Ferrino’s experience in the life bases and high-altitude bivouacs
Side by side with Tor des Géants® since the first edition, Ferrino, a Turin-based company and a leader in the outdoor sector for 150 years, has supported the efforts of athletes tackling trails, ridges and mountain passes, with its experience and the quality of the company's technical equipment. This year, too, Ferrino will provide the organization of all four races with technical gear suitable for offering the best possible support to athletes. Camp beds for resting in the life bases and high altitude tents to welcome them along the way. To support the TORX volunteers in carrying out their fundamental work, Ferrino bivouacs with tents and sleeping bags will be set up in the most challenging and inhospitable parts of the trails.
